Frequently Asked Questions
What is a UDA?
A Unit of Dental Activity (UDA) is the measure used by the NHS in England and Wales to quantify dental work. Band 1 treatments (examinations) carry 1 UDA, Band 2 treatments (fillings, extractions) carry 3 UDAs, and Band 3 treatments (crowns, dentures, bridges) carry 12 UDAs.
Can I generate invoices for my practice?
Yes. UDA Pulse generates professional invoices in PDF and XLSX format with HMRC-compliant sequential numbering (INV-001, INV-002). Invoices include NHS UDA summaries, private treatment line items with tooth notation, lab deductions, and associate split percentages. Credit notes can be issued against sent or paid invoices.
How does the tax year export work?
The tax year export generates a complete financial summary for any UK tax year (6 April to 5 April). It includes NHS income, private income, session earnings, allowable expenses, mileage deductions, and invoice totals. Available as both PDF report and XLSX spreadsheet for sharing with your accountant.
Is my patient data safe?
UDA Pulse stores only patient initials (maximum 3 characters), never full names or NHS numbers. All data is stored locally on your device. Cloud backups are sent to your personal iCloud or Google Drive account, not to third-party servers. Voice recognition is processed entirely on-device.
